Terms and Conditions

  1. The competition is open to anyone resident on the Island of Ireland
  2. Entries can be in either Irish or English language
  3. Stories can be submitted in three ways:
    1. Email to stories@lawaters.ie
    2. Online at www.lawaters.ie
    3. By post to: Stories form the Waterside, The Lodge, Ballingarrane Estate, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, E91 X370
  4. Entry is free of charge
  5. A person may enter as many different stories as they wish
  6. There are two themes for stories:
    1. Memories and Reflections
    2. Folklore and Tales
  7. The deadline is 11.50 pm on 31st May 2020
  8. A Competition entry form must be completed and accompany submission (printable version available online for hard copy or email entries).
  9. There is no age restriction
  10. Entries will be judged in two categories:
    1. Under 18s
    2. Over 18s  
  11. Entries should be 600 words or less (excluding title)
  12. Entries can be solely the work of the entrant, or an account of a story told by another person
  13. A fair and transparent judging process is ensured
  14. The judges decisions will determine prize winners and decisions will be final
  15. Notification of receipt of entry will be by issued by email.  
  16. Stories cannot be altered or substituted once they have been entered.
  17. All entries will be judged anonymously. Name and contact details must not appear on the stories 
  18. Personal details only in the entry form provided online at www.lawters.ie
  19. Stories entered to the competition must be original and unpublished
  20. Extracts from books or magazines will be disqualified
  21. All stories submitted online must be as a text file, PDF file or Microsoft Word doc.
  22. Entry to the competition is taken as agreement to stories being stored, published in a booklet for National Heritage Week and online on lawaters.ie and/or catchments.ie
  23. Stories received after the deadline will not be eligible for the competition
  24. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in immediate disqualification
  25. Entry is taken as acceptance of these rules
  26. GDPR will apply in terms of the way your personal contact details are used to contact you in relation to this competition
