Senior Executive Scientist

The Local Authority Waters Programme is looking for one Senior Executive Scientist (INTEGRATED CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT) ( to be based in either either the offices of Donegal County Council (Donegal town) or Monaghan County Council (Carrickmacross). This is a fixed term contract post and will conclude on 31st December 2021. A review of the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) is to be carried out in 2020 which may result in contracts being extended to December 2027. In addition to this vacancy, a panel will be formed from which vacancies arising in any of the LAWPRO offices will be filled. The offices are located as follows: Counties Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Offaly, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Mayo.
Annual salary scale of €65,678 [min] to €76,524 [max] excluding LSI’s will apply. 37 hours per week. It is likely that parts of the work schedule will be outside normal office hours, so flexibility will be required. Starting pay for all new entrants will be at the minimum of the scale.

Assistant Environmental Scientist (INTEGRATED CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT)

The Local authority Waters Programme is looking for applications for 3 CONTRACT POSITIONS and 2 SHORT-TERM MATERNITY COVER POSITIONS. THE CONTRACT POSTS ARE FIXED TERM CONTRACT POSTS and will conclude on 31st December 2021. A review of the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) is to be carried out in 2020 which may result in contracts being extended to December 2027. THE SHORT-TERM POSTS ARE TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE ONLY and will conclude after 6 months. LAWPRO is a shared service working with Local Authorities and state agencies to develop and implement River Basin Management Plans in Ireland, as required under the EU Water Framework Directive 2000 (WFD). The WFD seeks to protect and improve our natural waters, including rivers, lakes, groundwater, coastal water and transitional waters.
As part of the team structure of LAWPRO, it is intended to recruit FIVE [5] Assistant Environmental Scientists, to be based within each of the locations listed below:

  1. The offices of Limerick City and County Council (Limerick City) (1 contract post).
  2. The offices of Limerick City and County Council (Limerick City) (1 short-term maternity cover post).
  3. The offices of Galway County Council (Liosban, Galway City) (2 contract posts).
  4. The offices of Galway County Council (Liosban, Galway City) (1 short-term maternity cover post).
